Write about the greatness of Yajnasri Satakarni?
Yajnasri Satakarni was the last great Satavahana king. He was greatest among later Satavahana kings. He ruled between (variously: c. 152-181 CE, / 165-195 CE / 170-199 CE or / 174-203).
Bana’s Harsha Charithra praised him as ‘Tri SamudhraDheeshwara’. Like Gouthami puthra Satakarni, Yajnasri Satakarni also ruled land between 3 seas and he was master of 3 seas. Yajnasri Satakarni issued coins with ‘ship with double mast’ symbol. It indicates that Yajnasri Satakarni had war ships and flourishing offshore trade during his period.
Yagnasri Satakarni patronized ‘Acharya Nagarjuna’ a great Buddhist scholar of Mahayana branch. He was exponent of Madhyamika philosophy. Yajnasri Satakarni built Sriparvatha Mahachaithya. Sriparvatha is present day Nagarjuna Sagar, located in Nalgonda.
