What was the contribution of Telangana Jana Sabha towards achieving separate statehood to Telangana?

Ans:  Telangana Jana Sabha was founded in 1987, by Satyanarayana, editor of Sate Advisor. Leaders of Telangana Janasabha convened meeting in Kothagudem and Warangal cities, under the leadership of Vandemataram Ramachandra Rao. After this representatives of Telangana Janasabha submitted petitions to the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and Home Minister Chowhan demanding separate statehood to Telangana. Petitions were given to B.J.P. leader L.K. Advani, and Janata Party leader George Fernadez and many important leaders in Delhi.

Without going for elections, Telananites aspired to get Telangana state with people’s agitations. To achieve this aim, full fledged Telangana Janasabha was formed in Hyderabad in July 1998.

Akula Bhumayya was the convener of Telangana Janasabha. Telangana Janasabha Braches were formed in all the district of Telangana.

Telangana Janasabha sent 50 members cultural troop to each district to educate people against exploitative policies of Andhra leaders.

In Nagarjuna Sagar, Belli Lalitha gave training to 60 artistes.

On 30th June 1999, a big dharna was organized against the oppressive policies of Andhra government.

In May, June and July months of 2000, Telangana Jana Sabha toured 800 villages of six Telangana districts as a part of Praja Chaithanya Yathra. Many meetings were conducted.

After the assassination of Belli Lalitha, 5 attempts were made on Akula Bhumaiah.

After this on 14th June 2002, Telangana Jana Sabha convened a joint meeting with other like minded parties like, Telangana Sadhana Samitha and Telangana Aikhya Vedika, in Nizam College grounds.

Telangana Jana Sabha demanded for 50% reservations to women in all sectors, stop tribal lands from encroachments and equal opportunities to minorities in all sectors.
